Reviews
The Wine Advocate 91/100
Offering up aromas of cherries, sweet red berries and plums mingled with hints of licorice and spices, the 2020 Santenay 1er Cru Clos de la Comme is medium to full-bodied, with tangy acids, powdery tannins and a penetrating finish. It's more structured than its communal-level counterpart, though it remains quite refined. Franck and Frédérick Buisson continue to establish themselves as the reference point for Saint-Romain. This 19-hectare domaine has been estate bottling since the late 1940s and farming organically since the 1970s. White grapes are sorted, crushed and pressed for two and a half hours, and musts are barreled down with minimal settling. Reds see a gentle extract. The result is elegantly textural, chiseled wines that can age very well but are also hard to resist young. In ever warmer vintages, these wines seem to go from strength to strength, and everything here comes warmly recommended.
