Acustic Celler
Montsant 2021 Acústic negre
Reviews
The Wine Advocate 90/100
The eponymous red 2021 Acústic has plenty of notes of honey, beeswax and pollen that I often find in Mediterranean reds, intermixed with notes of cocoa powder and ripe berry fruit. It was produced with 87% Cariñena and 13% Garnacha and has high ripeness (15% alcohol) but good freshness, coming through as powerful and concentrated with power and abundant tannins. It is a powerful red matured in used and second-wine barrels for one year.
Acústic Celler is the Montsant project from Albert Jané, who also owns Ritme in Priorat and Autocton in Penedès. I tasted the current wines from the 2020, 2021 and 2022 vintages, all challenging and special but different. The style is ripe, modern and generously oaked.
