Domaine Dominique Cornin
Mâcon Fuissé 2024 les Bruyères
Reviews
The Wine Advocate 89/100
The 2024 Mâcon-Fuissé Les Bruyères, from a north-facing blue-stone schist site with 15- to 20-year-old vines, is medium- to full-bodied and opulent on the attack, with pear, apple and floral notes. The wine tightens through the mid-palate around a line of lime-tinged acidity before rounding back out on a buttery finish, contrasting its richness with lift.
Domaine Cornin is a 10-hectare family estate based in Chaintré. It is now led by Romain Cornin, who joined his father, Dominique, in 2011 after gaining experience in the United States and New Zealand. The domaine produces only white wines, with holdings across Mâcon-Chaintré, Mâcon-Fuissé, Saint-Véran and Pouilly-Fuissé. Herbicides were abandoned in 1998, and the vineyards have been farmed according to organic and biodynamic principles since 2000 (certified organic since 2003). Preparations 500 and 501 are complemented by plant-based teas, while vineyard work follows the lunar calendar. The grapes are lightly crushed and pressed pneumatically, with very few rotations of the press, adapting the regimen to the vintage. Romain has gradually extended the élevage, with certain wines now remaining in the cellar for as long as 24 months in combinations of stainless steel, barrels and demi-muids. Sulfur is added at pressing and again before bottling. The wines are not fined but may be filtered when necessary. Having their own bottling machine allows the team to control the final stage of production and bottle each wine according to its development. The approach is careful rather than demonstrative, with thoughtful adjustments made in both the winery and vineyards from one year to the next. The wines are classically structured and quietly powerful, marrying substance with persistence, giving them considerable capacity to develop in bottle. Published: Sep 17, 2026
